Prepare Your Body for Conception or IVF

Are you trying to get pregnant and suffer from chronic pain? Have irregular periods or endometriosis? Had a neck injury? Jaw issues? Several sessions with an advanced Bowen Therapy practitioner could make all the difference in preparing your body to successfully conceive and support a full term pregnancy.

One in eight couples have difficulty conceiving. The demand for in vitro fertilization (IVF) is growing. For many, IVF isn’t an option unless covered by health insurance. In Canada, some provincial health plans offer the first round free, but then waiting lists are years long. Couples often need more than one round of IVF. It can get very expensive, and the biological clock keeps ticking.

In this post you’ll learn how a Bowen Therapy practitioner with advanced training can improve your chances of a successful natural conception or IVF.

4 Factors Affecting Fertility

A.      Chronic Pain

The more stressed the body is by pain and inflammation, the less resources the body can devote to bringing life into the world.

Bowen Therapy can assist the body to heal muscular causes of pain.

B.      Hormone Imbalance

Australian, European and North American Bowen therapists with the HRBW advanced training have helped hundreds of women normalize irregular periods, reduce endometriosis and period pain, and improve ovulation using nerve stimulation protocols to balance estrogen, progesterone and testosterone levels. Some of my fertility clients also see a naturopath. (As of this post’s publication date, three Ontario, Canada naturopathic doctors are certified Bowen Therapists trained in HRBW. It’s an effective treatment combination.)

C.     Skeletal Bone Misalignment

Muscles hold bones in place, but too tight muscles pull skeletal bones out of alignment. To restore alignment of the pelvis and neck, advanced Bowen Therapists release excess tension in muscles.

When the pelvis is not aligned, chronic back pain can result. Pelvic bone misalignment may affect labor and delivery.

If the pelvis is out, the occiput (base of the skull) at the other end of the spine will also not be aligned. Alternatively, one-sided neck muscle tightness caused by an injury such as whiplash could be pulling the occiput out of alignment.

Innovation often occurs thanks to an interdisciplinary approach. I’m a professional engineer with both structural design and anatomy training. I’m going suggest something that is NOT on the radar of most medical professionals or fertility clinic staff: there may be a relationship between occiput misalignment (and resulting sphenoid bone misalignment) and pituitary gland function.

Could PCOS and low testosterone be caused by a tilted sphenoid bone? Read how my clinical experience pointed to this hypothesis in my post entitled the Pituitary Dysfunction – Structural Misalignment Connection.

D. Jaw Misalignment

Two of my clients became pregnant days after I aligned their jaws. Coincidence? We know the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) area is rich in nerves (e.g., the trigeminal nerve). We also know compressed nerves cause many problems. The HRBW fertility protocol includes a TMJ procedure. As well, many advanced Bowen practitioners have also taken Ron Phelan’s PASC Seminars jaw alignment training.
